Sometimes it is hard to believe that the autumnal equinox really marks the end of summer here on the Cape. Especially when some of us are still swimming at Millway Beach in early October and fishing into November. We have indeed been blessed with a beautiful fall this year.
But we can’t miss the signs of autumn all around us. Air and water temperatures are dropping. The color is finally appearing in our leaves. And the mooring fields and harbor slips are almost empty now. So perhaps it is a good time to reflect on the beauty that surrounds us and take a moment to recall some of the highlights of the past summer.
Our first piece in this latest newsletter is a personal review of fishing in the harbor this past summer, written by local fishing enthusiast (and Friends of Barnstable Harbor Board Member) Brit Lay. Anglers will find a wealth of insights and tips. And even non-anglers may be impressed at the breadth of options available in the harbor.
