On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Barnstable Harbor, we would like to thank all those who came to our Sunset Cruise on Friday. We trust you had an enjoyable evening catching up with old friends and hopefully making some new ones, all while enjoying some wonderful local foods. Mother Nature certainly did her part in providing us with spectacular weather once again this year.
We hope some of you got a chance to meet Owen Nichols from the Center for Coastal Studies and learn firsthand the role research will play in helping us to monitor and maintain the health and vitality of our treasured harbor. Your attendance on Friday was a critical element in the fundraising campaign to pay for the Finfish/Shellfish Survey that was recently completed. We are happy to report that the proceeds from this year's cruise will allow us to reach our goal and fully pay for this important research.
Along with all of you who attended our event, we must also thank and recognize the support of our loyal sponsors:
Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises heads the list, as they have since our first cruise in 2023, and they are the ones who make this whole event possible. In addition, a number of our own Barnstable Harbor shellfish farmers provided the fresh local food we all enjoyed. These include Moon Shoal Oysters, Scorton Creek Oysters, By the Bay Shellfish, and Channel Rock Oyster Company. As well, a number of local businesses chipped in, including Barnstable Market, Osterville Fish II and Lucky Lady Charters. Highliner Foods was also a big supporter. And we hope you got to enjoy some of the delicious items prepared using Barnstable Harbor ingredients, including Chef Lenny's famous Smoked Bluefish & Smoked Razor Clams and Chef Mark's Razor Clam Ceviche.
Thank you again for helping us to keep Barnstable Harbor the crown jewel of our village. We very much appreciate your support.
Stay informed, participate in local discussions that safeguard the long-term health and accessibility of the harbor.
